Why Test Ride a Stair Lift?

There are many great stair lift guides, videos, and pictures that can be found  online to help you learn about stair lifts. However, nothing compares to being able to see and test ride the lift before it is installed in your home.

It can also make it easier to determine if an upgrade option, such as a power swivel seat or footrest, is needed for your stair lift.

What Types of Stairlifts are in the Lifeway San Diego Showroom?

In our San Diego showroom, we have three stair lifts on-site for customers to test ride, which are outlined below.

Straight Stairlifts

Curved Stairlift

Bruno’s straight rail stairlift models have vertical aluminum rails that are built to fit a straight staircase that is 32” or wider. You will have the opportunity to compare the two Bruno straight stairlift models to determine which one is the better solution for your home and mobility needs.

If you have a staircase that has a turn, curve, or an intermediate landing, you will likely need a curved stair lift. The main difference between a straight stair lift and a curved one is the rail design. For curved stairlifts the rail has to be built to fit the exact specifications of the stairway, which is also why they cost more than straight stairlifts.

Stair Lift Upgrade Options in the San Diego Showroom

  • Bruno Elan has a folding rail
  • Bruno Elite Curved stairlift has a 90-degree park at bottom landing

When riding the two stairlifts, we can help you determine if either of the two options available for you to test out are needed. Our local consultant can also help recommend options (only if necessary) after learning more about your staircase and watching you ride the lift in the showroom.

Below is more information on some of the most commonly added safety options that are available for stairlift:

  • stair lift folding rail optionManual or Power Folding Rail -Recommended when the rail extends into a hallway that receives a lot of foot traffic. The folding rail prevents end of the rail from becoming a trip hazard. This option is also recommended when the lower landing of a staircase is near a doorway.
  • Power Folding Foot Rest - Allows you to conveniently fold the footrest up or down with a push of a button. A great option if the person in need of the lift has difficulty bending when in a sitting or standing position.
  • Power Swivel Seat – Perfect option if the user is unable to safely and easily swivel the seat manually. With the power swivel seat, the seat will swivel away form the stairs automatically with a push of a button (located on armrest of chair).
